Many Rivers to Cross - Jimmy Cliff

1000 / 10

There are no other words to describe this piece as anything other than mastery. It doesn't matter what you are going through because the smooth vocal cords of Jimy cliff singing reggae will resonate with whatever you have going on. Whenever I am crying about something or someone I can't seem to manage or for lack of better words control, Jimmy Cliff allows me to realize that I have to work on myself to better myself, for myself.

The song is about knowing you have to better yourself, but how? How can one deviate from their ways and become a better person entirely? Another theme in the song is that it is '' such a tragedy to be on your own". Without the people we love, the world is such a horrible place. Therefore, if we can't help better ourselves, shouldn't we better ourselves for the people we love? The song shows that everything is a process and that there will be many rivers to cross. As the editor and publisher of TheStackRuns, I highly encourage you guys to listen to this song that has touched my heart on several occasions. Thank you, Jimmy Cliff.

 Lyrics

Many rivers to cross

But I can't seem to find my way over

Wandering I am lost

As I travel along the white cliffs of Dover

Many rivers to cross

And it's only my will that keeps me alive

I've been licked, washed up for years

And I merely survive because of my pride

And this loneliness won't leave me alone

It's such a drag to be on your own

My woman left me and she didn't say why

Well I guess, I have to try

Many rivers to cross

But just where to begin, I'm playing for time

There are times I find myself

Thinking of committing some dreadful crime

Yes, I've got many rivers to cross

But I can't seem to find my way over

Wandering I am lost

As I travel along the white cliffs of Dover
