Music Will Always Relate To Our Culture

Long story short, TheStackRuns is committed to talking about all social impacts, even those of music. Please reach out if any of you want to talk about any specific songs in particular because TheStackRuns is committed to being uncensored in its fight for open discussion.

My Little Love - Adele

Four words: "I'm holding on (barely)," a relatable piece of music, so simple, yet so strong when applied with Adele's voice, truly a work of art.

Lost - Frank Ocean

Every cried on an NYC MTA Train? Broke down because you realized what your life was when the glitter ended? Or realized that there was no glitter, to begin with? Then tune into this song and wash away your perils with TheStackRuns.

I Was on a Mountain - Hot Water Music

Everyone happens to have their emotional support song, and when walking home, the scream of "Caution" in my ear lets me vent, and it is an honor to share this beautiful song with you all !

Hide and Seek - Etta Marcus

Loving someone and never getting that feeling back is one of the worst feelings in the world. Whether that unreciprocated love is to yourself, someone else, or something else, this song depicts it all for you.

Many Rivers To Cross - Jimmy Cliff

Have you wanted to better yourself but not know how? How can one deviate from their ways and become a better person entirely? The path to enlightenment is a battle because there will always be 'Many Rivers To Cross'

Angelina - Lizzy McAlpine

In need of a good cry? Well, we can all cry together with the sweet lyrics of " I never love you more than when you said good bye."

Die For You - Joji

Sometimes in life, you reflect and realize that you're the one in the wrong. It's hard to come to this understanding, but it's true. Sometimes it's better to leave others alone to love them in a way that can benefit them until you get better. It's not fair to be only halfway there for someone who can be happy with someone else, someone better. Thank you, Joji.

Haunted by Beyonce

This is the embodiment of limerence-focused love language—the type of love where their every action encompasses you, their thoughts, and the physical act of being with the person you are obsessed with. It showcases the suffocating nature of being engrossed in someone and ultimately loving every moment of it—I highly recommend listening to it

Kingdom Come -  Jay-Z

Any 2000s baby who is African American knows the nostalgia of having jay -z playing on the ride back home in their dad's car. However, not a single song in my playlist has me hyped just off-rip from the beat like this. So listen, repeat, and remember what would Hip- Hop be without the boy HOV?

Thérèse - Maya Hawke

Yes, she is a Nepo baby. We all saw the article. However, this song is absolutely amazing and deserves recognition because if you have a mental breakdown, nothing is better than crying to this song. It heals, relaxes, and possibly exfoliates the soul? Listen and keep it on repeat!

Tired - Beadadoobee

Ugh, this is the anthem for any finals week in every college, for real!!!! While the singer probably talks to another person in the song, my interpretation of the song was an inner dialogue with my natural competitiveness. The constant and incessant need to do good in school for not only myself but my family and the need to break free from the vicious cycle of academic validation is everything I feel released when listening to this amazing song. So if you are going through a similar situation,  sit down, hit play, and let your worries leave for three minutes and nineteen seconds.

I Kissed Someone ( It Wasn't You)

So delicate, so beautiful, yet un-innocent. Although immoral, cheating can be an act of freedom from a love you feel is dissolving but are scared to walk away from. The part of the song where Dodie confesses to cheating and promulgates whether Dodie's partner is too shows the modern dichotomy of there being no protagonist or antagonist in the real world, especially in controversial views of cheating. So if you are in this predicament yourself, leave, reflect, and most of all, listen.

Escapism - RAYE & 070 Shake

Regardless of whatever is breaking your heart, heartbreak is the pain that keeps on going, so what do you do? Escape. Simple and done, while the coping mechanisms showcased in this song are not the best, I have one question to ask you all: Do you really want to feel like how you did that night? Exactly, so listen.

Missin'  Out - Brent Faiyaz

It's like watering dead plants, playing it off as if you don't care, but you do care, and it's that caring that causes you to interact with the same terrifically horrible person consistently. And in the end, you miss out when you pour all of your energy into something that's dead.

Clear By Whirr

Picture this. Life with a smooth swaying sound of music, nothing's better, but what if that music helps you in your grief? You can't top that. Well, don't let the name 'Clear' fool you as we unpack hidden emotions on whatever you or whoever else is going through.

Goodbye by Meth Wax

Have you ever had to say goodbye to someone or something? Just like the song calls for you- all the good times roll into your brain when it is time to let go. But what if you can't? Then pull up a chair and vibe with me on this song. After all, what's closing a chapter of your life without opening a new one?

Leave Me Alone - Kari Faux

Picture this. You just got your sign that the person you are with is not for you? You inadvertently leveled up from what could only be a bum. BLAST THIS SONG IF YOU CAN RELATE

Soft pale and Pure - The honorary title

Picture this you are graduating, but you just got rejected by one of your favorite colleges. You could either ponder in self-doubt or realize that rejection is redirection. You can wallow in pity or "drink to your accomplishments."

Sex with a Ghost - Hyde

Like a weird Halloween movie, reeling you in is the feeling of eerie coolness I can't describe.  The up and down keys in the song are so catchy and cool and deserve a spotlight on TheStackRuns.

Artemas

Upcoming Alternative Singer

Recently, the artist blew up on TikTok for their song 'if you think i am Pretty'. However, even with the introduction of this popular song blowing up on TikTok, many fans, including us at TheStackRuns, are intrigued by the following songs:

While, the StackRuns encourages every new listener to listen to the artist's music on their streaming platforms. We do recognize that YouTube is a very accessible platform.

Mitski

I want you - Mitski

Take this in. Process it. Never forget it. Love isn't pretty, and it's scary. Needing someone to process the floating rock we call earth, yet you left me? You left me, and I have to pick up the pieces. I fall at the mention of your name. I wish upon a star like a Disney princess waiting for your arrival. You shatter me. I am completely tethered to you, and for that, I am done. You ended me.

Burning Hill - Mitski

The denigration of my character with your falsified promises is inevitably unbecoming. I can be perfect for you, but that sentiment is never reciprocated. Why? Listen to find out in your way.

UNITED KINGDOM RAP MUSIC

CADET

Gone too soon, but his legacy lives to continue. Cadet is an amazing lyricist and UK rapper who unfortunately passed away four years ago. My all-time favorite one of his songs was the slut freestyle ( and no, the song means more than that, get your mind out of the gutter.) Consequently, If you want to explore more of the UK rap scene without falling into the mindless and senseless mainstream music that most UK rappers give, check out Cadet.

DAVE

Dave, Dave, Dave... Yes, he is mainstream, but his earlier and unreleased music is so good. And no, here on 'TheStackRuns,' we do not have individuality complexes. However, most mainstream UK rap is just terrible when you compare them to Dave and Cadet. Moreover, Dave is a lyricist, defining what it means to be versatile in the rap scene. My all-time favorite songs from Dave are Adriano, Two Birds No Stones, and homage x Dave Lesley remix.

 Late 9Os- 2OOOs Throwbacks

If it's one thing that Alicia Keys is going to do, is that she is going to professor her love. While I love this song, it's nothing like her other song, "If I Ain't Got You." Nonetheless, my fellow StackRunners, I'm ready to tune into this song again!

I swear this song was played at every family cookout during the early and late 2000s. I love this song as it reminds me of a summer barbecue when things were simpler because no matter what, "You can't make a fool out of me!"

Good Girl- Chrisette Michele

In This for You - Chisette Michele

Let's Rock- Chrisette Michele

We All Want the Same Thing - Kevin Michael

So Ghetto - Jay - Z

What Ya Want - Ruff Ryders feat.  Eve & Nokio

Honorable Mentions

Tested by history - hoy

Will you fall into the same patterns, or will you rise again? Were you tested by history but whose? Yours. So listen to this amazing 200s song right now.

Tokyo ghost - Eyedress

Usually, around Halloween, people start discussing ghosts but not the ghosts that truly leave you haunted: your old friends, your old relationships, and anything or anyone in your past. The true ghosts. Nothing ever ends easy, but I'm sure Carrie Bradshaw, life, or your past could have told you that. So if you are rummaging through your grief and past, listen to this ghost instead.

Me in 20 years - Moses Sumney

Popularly shown in the show Euphoria ( Rue's special episode), it battles with the uncertainty of what or who you will be in twenty years - ugh, the most superficial statement I have given out for a song. But in all honesty, who will you be in twenty years? Will you hold on to the shred of hope you have for the new dawn or give up? Who knows? We all don't.
